In a Paris prison cell, five inmates use every ounce of their tenacity and ingenuity in an elaborate attempt to tunnel to freedom. Based on a novel by José Giovanni, Jacques Becker’s last film balances lyrical humanism with a tense, unshakable air of imminent danger.
The screening on Sun 16 July will be introduced by film critic and programmer Roberto Oggiano and followed by a relaxed, collective discussion with the audience, as part of our new monthly film club, Finally Sunday. No booking is necessary (it’s free to attend), you just need to buy a ticket to the film.
